Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a solicitor to write a Will?

No — most people don’t. As long as your Will is clear, signed, and witnessed correctly, it’s legally valid. Our templates are built around established best practices and include clear instructions to keep you on the right track.

Can I update my Will later?

Yes. You can either write a new Will using our system, or — for item-specific gifts — simply update your Memorandum of Wishes, which avoids needing to rewrite the full document.

Is a printed Will more valid than a digital one?

Legally, the content of the Will is what matters — not how it’s created. However, it must be printed and signed in hard copy with two witnesses to be valid in the UK. We provide clear steps to help you do this properly.

Who can witness my Will?

Any two adults who are not beneficiaries of your Will (or married to someone who is) can act as witnesses. That includes friends, neighbours, colleagues, or professionals such as nurses or carers.

How quickly can I get a Will if it’s urgent?

Our Emergency Will is designed for speed. You can complete it online in minutes, download it, print it, and sign with witnesses the same day. It’s ideal when timing matters.

What if I want professional help?

We can refer you to one of our trusted Will Writers or Later Life Advisers based on your postcode. This is ideal for complex cases like business assets, trusts, or inheritance tax planning.

Is your service compliant with UK law?

Yes. Our templates align with UK requirements for Will writing and Power of Attorney documents. We also include optional clauses and safeguards to help executors carry out your wishes with confidence.

What’s a Memorandum of Wishes?

It’s a simple document that lists who gets what — particularly for personal items like jewellery or heirlooms. Ours is included with every Will and can be updated any time without rewriting your main Will.

What happens after I complete the online form?

You’ll receive a secure download of your document, along with full signing and witnessing instructions. If you’ve requested a printed version, we’ll prepare and post it to you promptly.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind?

If you haven’t yet downloaded your Will or had it printed, yes. Due to the custom nature of the documents, once it’s delivered or posted, we’re unable to offer refunds. But we’re always here to support you if anything’s unclear.
